Homebuyer survey is a standard report designed by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to highlight vital information about a property. The survey includes the assessment of all parts of the property with the aim of evaluating its condition. It is similar to a building survey but is cheaper and less comprehensive.

A homebuyer report is generally suitable for conventional properties and buildings that are built with common materials. It is also ideal for properties that appear to be in good condition but do not fully meet building regulations. It helps buyers to make informed decisions about the property they are buying. A homebuyer survey includes the assessment of accessible parts of the property, inspection of paving and other additional structures within the property boundary. However, if the property is more than 100 years old, unconventional, have been altered or requires significant alteration, a comprehensive building survey will be more suitable.
